Upcoming Hollywood Movies 2027: Full Release Date List (Batman, Avengers, Shrek 5 & More)

2027 is shaping up to be a big year at the movies. Sequels, superheroes, animation and video-game adaptations are all lined up. Here is the month-by-month list of upcoming Hollywood movies in 2027, based on release dates listed as of October 2026.

Important: Studio release dates change often. Treat every date below as tentative and check the official studio announcement before booking tickets.

The dates people search most

• Avengers: Secret Wars: December 17, 2027.
• The Batman: Part II: October 1, 2027.
• Shrek 5: June 30, 2027.
• Frozen III: November 24, 2027.

If you only remember four dates, remember these. They are the films most fans are talking about right now.

January to March 2027

• The Beekeeper 2: January 15, 2027 (US and UK).
• The Thomas Crown Affair: March 5, 2027 (US). Michael B. Jordan directs.
• Sonic the Hedgehog 4: March 19, 2027.
• Godzilla x Kong: Supernova: March 26, 2027.

The year opens with action. The Beekeeper 2 arrives first, in mid-January. Early March brings a new version of a well-known title, directed by Michael B. Jordan. Then two big crowd-pleasers land in the last two weeks of March: a Sonic sequel and another giant-monster film.

April to July 2027

• Panic Carefully: April 9, 2027.
• The Legend of Zelda (live-action): May 7, 2027.
• Star Wars: Starfighter: May 28, 2027.
• Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse: listed for June 20, 2027. Some references point to the end of June, so watch for an update.
• Shrek 5: June 30, 2027.
• A Quiet Place Part III: July 30, 2027.

Late spring and summer are the busiest months for big movies. Schools are on holiday in many countries, so studios save their biggest titles for this window. That is why May, June and July look so crowded. If two films you like open in the same week, you may have to pick one for the first weekend.

October to December 2027

• The Batman: Part II: October 1, 2027.
• Frozen III: November 24, 2027.
• Avengers: Secret Wars: December 17, 2027.
• Star Wars: New Jedi Order: also listed for December 17, 2027. Its plot has not been announced.
• Buds (Sony Pictures Animation): December 22, 2027. It was originally set for March 12, 2027.

The last quarter is about big finishes. A dark detective sequel opens the season, a family animation arrives around the Thanksgiving weekend in the US, and December brings the biggest superhero film on the list. The Buds date is a good example of how plans change: it moved from March to December.

Why release dates keep moving

Studios often change dates. Here are the common reasons:

• The film needs more time for editing or special effects.
• Another big film is opening on the same day.
• The studio wants a better season, such as summer or the holidays.
• A large release is placed in a different year to balance the schedule.

A date announced a year ahead is a plan, not a promise. The closer you get to release, the more reliable it becomes.

How to plan your movie year

1. Save the official studio pages or social accounts for the films you care about.
2. Watch for the first trailer. Trailers usually appear a few months before release.
3. Book early for the biggest openings, especially for large-screen formats if you prefer them.
4. Do not book non-refundable travel around a date until it is confirmed.
5. Set a reminder a month before each film so you do not miss the opening week.

Which movies suit which viewer

For superhero fans: Avengers: Secret Wars and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. These two are the main superhero events of the list.

For families and kids: Shrek 5, Frozen III and Buds. All three are animated, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is another family-friendly pick.

For gamers: The Legend of Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 are both based on video games.

For action and thriller fans: The Beekeeper 2, The Thomas Crown Affair and A Quiet Place Part III.

For Star Wars fans: Star Wars: Starfighter in May and Star Wars: New Jedi Order in December, though the plot of the second film is still unannounced.
