Reba, Rex and the Great Emmett–Bobbie Reunion Debate — Entertainment | Latest News

Couples counselling has entered the sitcom chat, and the counsellors disagree.

In an exclusive interview with People, Reba McEntire and Rex Linn say they have different opinions on whether their Happy's Place characters, Bobbie and Emmett, should get back together. The News International also reports that the two were candid about where their characters might be headed.

The setup

Happy's Place is a workplace sitcom starring Reba McEntire, the country star who is also beloved for her earlier hit sitcom Reba. Rex Linn plays Emmett, whose on-again, off-again history with Bobbie is one of the show's running storylines. When the actors themselves can't agree on how that story should end, you know the fans will have opinions too.

The two camps

Team Reunite

  • Sitcoms run on second chances.
  • Familiar chemistry is comforting, and comfort TV is the whole point.
  • Every long-running will-they-won't-they deserves a payoff.

Team Move On

  • Some exes work better as plot twists than as couples.
  • A breakup gives a character room to grow.
  • Not every love story needs a bow on top.

Why actors disagreeing is great news for fans

When the cast has mixed feelings, writers have room to play. It means the future of the storyline isn't locked in, and that every vote in the comments section is, at least emotionally, relevant.

The masala take

If the two actors can't agree, the fandom has no hope. Expect strongly worded comments, a flood of heart emojis, and one person who says "I called this in season one."

Your move

Pick a side and defend it. Winner gets bragging rights. Loser gets to say "I told you so" in six months anyway.

What did you think?
